15 August 2004

The Scouts had a fantastic week at the Salvation Army UK territorial Guide and Scout Camp at Blacklands Farm in East Sussex.

The whole Troop attended the camp, a first for the fourth and we camped with the Salvation Army Scouts from Stapleford in the East Midlands. In addition to Stapleford, there were Scouts and Guides from all over the Country including Batley Scouts and Sittingbourne Guides who our Scouts have had joint activities with early in the year as part of the Let’s Unite theme. The Camp started off with a Traditional Camp fire on The Saturday night. On the Monday we had a Market day where the Guides and Scouts raised money for a Children’s Contact Centre in Birmingham. On Tuesday some of the Groups went to Butlins at Bognor Regis for the day and through out the week there were many activities run by the site including Kayaking, Abseiling and Archery. Stapleford and Medway Scouts, along with some Guides from Sittingbourne held a night exercise on the Wednesday night during which they had to crack codes, clean up environmental spillages and rescue people – all simulated of course. The final campfire on the Thursday evening was great as everyone was able to mix with new found friends and enjoy the fire together. Click on the photos below to see larger versions.
