Steve and Russell showed us around the station. They started with instructions on what to do if the Fire Engines were called out and just as we left the briefing (TV) room both engines were called out so we went and watcghed telly for a few minutes. Soon we were back in the control room where Steve talked us through waht happens when a call is placed through the 999 service. We were shown the computer dispatch system and the direction cards that the driver uses to find the fire. Steve told us that they can be at any fire in their area within 5 minutes. After that, Steve showed us the persoanl kit that each fire fighter wears and what it’s for fod. The Cubs and Scouts then got to try the kit on. Soon afterwards both engines arrived back and the Cubs and Scouts were given a tour of each vehicle and a demonstration of some of the equipment on board. Many thanks to the Staff at the fire station for a great evening.
