Scout Association Portal

7 December 2005

You should check out the Scout Associations website (not to be confused with Scoutbase) – they’ve done a lot of work updating it and it’s quite good.

To get access to the members areas, you’ll need your membership number which you can get off the label of Scouting magazine if you recieve it.

However, if like me you’ve never recieved a copy, you can get your membership number and magazine subscription (it’s free) sorted out by calling the information centre on 0845 300 1818. They’ll ask for your post code and if that fails your name and date of birth. My details were only out by 4 years! The guy was helpful and arranged for the current issue of the magazine to be sent out to me – although no back issues were available.

They’ve also started a programmes online project to get a quality program material database setup. They’re looking for people to submit programmes and then they will get edited and added to the POL system when it comes on line in Janruary. They’ve only got 250 contributors so far, including me and they want about 10 programmes from each person. The only one I’ve thought of so far is the Morse Code Encoder/decoder one, so if you can think of others that may be of interest, let me know and I’ll take all the glory for them!

Don’t forget, if you can read this, you should be a leader with the group – no one else can see it so if you’ev got information you want to share with the other leaders, this is a place to do it. Just write an acticle and set the category to Leaders.
