Be Prepared 2006:Monday to Wednesday

The Scouts, Explorers and Guides have been doing lots in the past few days.

Monday

On Monday, it was Scouting activities. Everyone choose an activity they would like to do for the day and went off with Scouts and Guides from other groups in our Sub camp and joined in. The Raft Builders spent the morning building several rafts and in the afternoon sailed them on a nearby river. The Radio and Electronics group built a computer, learnt how to solder and took part in lots of activities with radios including talking to Amateur radio users back in the UK.

The Pioneering group built a Chinese swing. The Souveiner makers made items from wood and an old cow bell. Another group took part in challenged to ‘Save the Dutch’.

In the evening, everyone went along to the bible study and heard the resident band play some more, watched some videos and discussed what it means to have integrity.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we had our day out to the Zuiderzee museum. This open air museum has houses, shops and workshops representing much of the Netherlands history. It was a bit wet but everyone had a good time looking at the exhibits and enjoying the food in the restraunts.

In the evening was the first Jamboree Campfire. unfourtunalty, there is a ban on fires and even candles in Holland at the moment so there was no chance of an actual fire. Some special effects were used instead and the singing was as good as ever.

Wednesday

Wednesday was market day with each country setting up stall and selling food, services or gifts for fellow campers or the days guests. The money raised will be used for a Dutch charity.

In the evening, there was bible study again and a fantastic concert from the Band and the newly formed Jamboree Gospel Choir.

More detail later, for now, have a look at some of the pictures.
