London Visit

October 28th, 2007

On Sunday, 21st October, some of our Scouts and Explorer Scouts visited London for the day.We took the train to Blackheath and walked through Greenwich park to the National Maritime Museum. After that, we took the Thames Clipper to Tower Pier and walked across Tower Bridge to HMS Belfast.

We had lunch at a restaurant near to HMS Belfast and then walked along the South bank to the London Eye. Click on the picture above to see more of what we got up to.

Take one brown trout…

October 6th, 2007

A few weeks ago, the Scouts and Explorers were at Buckmore Park and did some backwards cooking. They took a Brown Trout, wrapped it in several layers of wet newspaper, tied it up with some string and put it in the embers of a fire…

After 30 minutes, it was ready – and tasted very nice!  - Click on the photo to see more.

September 26th, 2007

For more information on shelter building, try the Scout Notebook on Shelters.

Buckmore Park – again!

September 22nd, 2007

This Monday, 24th September, we are going to Buckmore Park again. The confusion last week was caused by the Security Manager having changed his mobile phone number over the summer, so although we had booked to go, as you will all remember, we couldn’t get in!Meet at the usual times in the car park behind the Sports Centre. Bring suitable clothing and a torch as it may get a bit dark. If it’s been raining heavily througout the day, we’ll be at the hall instead. See you there.

All sections started back after the Summer break on Monday. The Beavers made totem poles of heads, the Cubs marked on a map where they lived and went to School as well as other local points of Interest – and played some games of course!

The Scouts and Explorers helped the leaders by tidying up the cupboard and thinking about ways to recruit more Scouts – what do you think?
