Beavers
Over the past few weeks we have seen investitures in Beavers, Cubs and Explorer Scouts. It’s great when we get new young people joining the sections as happened in Beavers and Explorers and also nice when young people progress from one section to another.
Here is a picture of out latest Beaver Scout getting invested.
This Saturday, 15 Beavers and Cubs went to the Funday at Gilwell Park.
There were lots of activities to join in with. Our Cubs and Beavers enjoyed the intlatables, simulators, hot wheels area, Monstor Trick, Climbing, Rafting water rockets, jousting and more. Take a look at the photos by clicking on the image below.
A big thank you to the volunteers who came along to help on the day.
This weekend the Cubs are going to camp at Downe Scout Centre. The camp has a Pirate theme – we’ll be making additions to pirate costumes over the weekend and taking part in lots of the on site activities.

On Monday, the Beavers are joining us for the day, including the Pirate Party in the evening.
Be sure to check back for the photos – and watch out for those Pirates!
On Monday another Beaver Scout was invested in our Colony.
The Cubs were learning about the patron saint of England and Scouting, St George – and also about the patron Saints of the other countries in the United Kingdom. They also made some iced biscuits with the flags on of each country.
The Scouts held their annual Chip Shop Survey. This year, for the first time, McDonalds won!
The Explorer Scouts prepared an activity for the Scouts next week and orgainised a trip to Thorpe Park and to help with the setup of the World Jamboree this summer.
A busy first night back after the Easter Holiday.
5 of the Beavers were awarded their Beaver Healthy Eating Activity Badge last night.
The Beavers have completed all the requirements over the last few weeks.
They have made a fruit salad, made a healthy snack (they made flapjacks), made two different sandwiches and listed some unhealthy foods.
Tonight we invested another two new Beavers!
They have been coming to Beavers for a few weeks after some members of the Salvation Army in Chatham put them in touch with us.
The Beavers wanted to have their flag present for the investiture as they had all enjoyed seeing it paraded at Church Parade the day before.
This Sunday we held our first Church Parade of the year at Chatham Salvation Army.
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along with the Brownies and Guides paraded in their flags and presented them to Major Kathy and then enjoyed the meeting which was run by Tracy, who is in charge of the Young People at the Salvation Army.
It was great to see lots of family members come along for the meeting and all the mums were given bunches of Daffodils as it was mothers day.
At the same time as the Scout Group was parading, the crew of HMS chatham were also lining up for a parade outside the Hall. HMS Chatham was visiting Chatham Dockyard and the Crew were exercising their right to Parade through the town as they have the freedom of the city!
