For this years St Georges day we tried something different. In the morning, we had a Church Parade at The Salvation Army. The Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers joined in with the children’s church which runs from 10.30 until midday.
After this, we had a picnic at the Vines park in Rochester before joining the rest of the Groups from the Medway towns for the Parade through Rochester and the Service in the Cathedral. This year, the Service was lead by Tracy Wood who also runs the Salvation Army Childrens Church.
During the Service, the Singing Company (the young peoples choir) sang some songs. As some of the members of are also our Beavers and Cubs, we’ve included the video here.
On Monday 10th May, the Beavers and Cubs visited Medway Fire Station. Freddie from Bluewatch showed gave us a tour of the station with Fox sliding down the firemans pole and Akela dresing up as a fireman.
The highlight of the visit was having a go on the firemans hose.
There’s been lots going on this term. The Beavers have been making fruit cocktails, the Cubs having been making Mummies and castles and there have been several investitures of new members. Take a look at some of the pictures to see more of what everyone has been upto.

Over the last few weeks, the Beavers and Cubs have been reusing things – during the first week, they made useful things from one weeks recycling. This included a telephone, a model space ship and a snakes and ladders game. The Beaver and Cub team that were judged to have produced the best work were given some fair trade chocolate.
Also, the Beavers and Cubs put on a fashion show using clothes that were ready to be recycled.
The Scouts and Explorers have started planning for a short video about how making a small change can make the world a better place. Some intial filming has been done but there is a lot work left to be done before the film movie is available to view.
