Cubs
This Sunday we held our first Church Parade of the year at Chatham Salvation Army.
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along with the Brownies and Guides paraded in their flags and presented them to Major Kathy and then enjoyed the meeting which was run by Tracy, who is in charge of the Young People at the Salvation Army.
It was great to see lots of family members come along for the meeting and all the mums were given bunches of Daffodils as it was mothers day.
At the same time as the Scout Group was parading, the crew of HMS chatham were also lining up for a parade outside the Hall. HMS Chatham was visiting Chatham Dockyard and the Crew were exercising their right to Parade through the town as they have the freedom of the city! Click on the picture below to see some pictures of the Chatham in the dockyard.
The Beavers and Cubs and Explorers had their first nights of 2007 with their new Leaders on Monday night. The Beavers worked on some pictures of what they would look like in a years time and the things they want to do in Beavers this year. The Cubs looked at their Cub Promise and Law and started work on keeping a good turn diary for a week.
The Explorer’s played some games and talked about some of the activities they are going to do this term, including releasing a CD with Camp Fire songs on – so watch this space for more news on that!
The Scouts had their first night back as well (although with the same old leaders) and started work on the Scout Communicators badge.

Scouts and Explorers will continue meet from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

This Saturday, the Chatham Salvation Army held their annual Christmas Concerts at Chatham Central Theatre.
This years theme was the gifts of Christmas with each group that meets during the week taking part.

The Scout Group did the Ten Lords a Leaping section from the Song.
This involved a vaulting horse, lots of jumping and some excellent stage management by the explorer Scouts.
As you can see there were lots of people involved.

Thanks to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts that took part.
Our Cub Pack joined with approximately 2500 other Cubs from all over Kent to celebrate 90 years of Cub Scouting at Chatham Dockyard taking part in the 2006 County Cubs Big Day Out.
The Cubs had a very full day of activities including a trip on a paddle steamer, clambering over a warship HMS Cavalier, a submarine built at Chatham HMS Ocelot and sailing ship, used until the 1950′s as a sea cadet training ship at Chatham HMS Gannet. Taking a hands on look at the RNLI exhbition. The County Cub team used this event to raise money and give a substantial donation to the RNLI as part of their ongoing work to train their volunteer lifeboat crews.
The Cubs were able to visit the Dockyard Ropery to make their own rope and take a trip through the history of the Dockyard spanning back before the time of the Spanish Armarda.
The day rounded off with a lively birthday party to celebrate 90 years of Cub Scouting (1916-2006) assisted by the Hullabaloo road show. Other guests for the day included, The Chief Scout, Peter Duncan, the Deputy Chief Scout and the National Commisioner for Cubs Scouts.
