The Beavers and Cubs went to Gilwell for the Funday event again this year.
In the summer months it’s great to be able to use Buckmore Park instead of meeting at our hall.
These pictures are from one of the nights when all the sections were at the park.
In October, the Scouts visited Thorpe Park for a day. The weather was great and the braver Scouts went on all the big rides while some were happy to just go on the flying fish!
In August, 27 Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders went to Blackwell Adventure for our Summer Camp.
We had great weather and took part in many activities including Climbing, Kayaking, Swimming, Pioneering, Fire Lighting and others. We also visited Drayon Manor Park for a day. Check out the pictures to see what else we did.
On Saturday, the Beavers and Cubs went to the Funday at Gilwell Park. Check out the pictures below to see what they got upto.
On Saturday, some of the Group joined others from Chatham Salvation Army on a Sponsored walk to raise money for the building development. A big thanks to everyone who took part. If you’d like more information about the building fund, please visit the building redevelopment page of Chatham Salvation Army web site.
Over the bank holiday weekend, the Scouts went camping at Hamlet Wood Scout Camp, near Maidstone.
They hiked from the Scout hall to Strood railway station and took the train to East Farleigh, then hiked from the station to the campsite.
On Sunday, they built a large swing as a pioneering project. They also played several wide games, lit fires and cooked meals in their Patrols. Major Drew visited on Sunday and helped put the finishing touches on the swing.
On Monday, they reversed their journey and made their way back to Chatham.
Click on the pictures below to see more of what they got up to.
For this years St Georges day we tried something different. In the morning, we had a Church Parade at The Salvation Army. The Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers joined in with the children’s church which runs from 10.30 until midday.
After this, we had a picnic at the Vines park in Rochester before joining the rest of the Groups from the Medway towns for the Parade through Rochester and the Service in the Cathedral. This year, the Service was lead by Tracy Wood who also runs the Salvation Army Childrens Church.
During the Service, the Singing Company (the young peoples choir) sang some songs. As some of the members of are also our Beavers and Cubs, we’ve included the video here.
Once again this year we’re supporting the Blythswood Care shoebox appeal. Shoebox’s need to be retuned this Monday, 9th November please. For more information, visit the Blythswood Care Shoebox Appeal website.
