The Scouts went on Patrol camps to Downe Scout Activity centre over the May day bank holiday weekend.
The Scouts had prepared their own equipment, written their own menus and shopping lists and camped as Patrols for the weekend.
The weather was really good and everyone had a good time – I’m sure they’re all looking forward to putting the equipment away at the next Scout meeting.
The Scouts provide some comic relief.
On Sunday, 21st October, some of our Scouts and Explorer Scouts visited London for the day.We took the train to Blackheath and walked through Greenwich park to the National Maritime Museum. After that, we took the Thames Clipper to Tower Pier and walked across Tower Bridge to HMS Belfast.
We had lunch at a restaurant near to HMS Belfast and then walked along the South bank to the London Eye.
The first day of our Explorer Scouts joining the Jamboree Build Team is complete. The Explorers helped put up some of the 350 fiesta tents that will be used during the Jamboree by delegates and day visitors.
They’re now unwinding for the evening – going out for dinner and to watch the new Harry Potter film.
This weekend, three Explorer Scouts and two leaders are going to help build the 21st World Jamboree. With over 40,000 people from 155 countries attending, the scale of the Jamboree is massive and our Explorers will play their part in ensuring that the many visitors to the UK have an amazing time.
Whilst the Explorers are away building the Jamboree, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be attending a Church Parade at the Chatham Salvation Army Hall, 10am on Sunday.
This Saturday, 15 Beavers and Cubs went to the Funday at Gilwell Park.
There were lots of activities to join in with. Our Cubs and Beavers enjoyed the intlatables, simulators, hot wheels area, Monstor Trick, Climbing, Rafting water rockets, jousting and more. Take a look at the photos by clicking on the image below.
A big thank you to the volunteers who came along to help on the day.
This weekend the Cubs are going to camp at Downe Scout Centre. The camp has a Pirate theme – we’ll be making additions to pirate costumes over the weekend and taking part in lots of the on site activities.

On Monday, the Beavers are joining us for the day, including the Pirate Party in the evening.
Be sure to check back for the photos – and watch out for those Pirates!
This Sunday we held our first Church Parade of the year at Chatham Salvation Army.
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along with the Brownies and Guides paraded in their flags and presented them to Major Kathy and then enjoyed the meeting which was run by Tracy, who is in charge of the Young People at the Salvation Army.
It was great to see lots of family members come along for the meeting and all the mums were given bunches of Daffodils as it was mothers day.
At the same time as the Scout Group was parading, the crew of HMS chatham were also lining up for a parade outside the Hall. HMS Chatham was visiting Chatham Dockyard and the Crew were exercising their right to Parade through the town as they have the freedom of the city! Click on the picture below to see some pictures of the Chatham in the dockyard.
This Saturday, the Chatham Salvation Army held their annual Christmas Concerts at Chatham Central Theatre.
This years theme was the gifts of Christmas with each group that meets during the week taking part.

The Scout Group did the Ten Lords a Leaping section from the Song.
This involved a vaulting horse, lots of jumping and some excellent stage management by the explorer Scouts.
As you can see there were lots of people involved.

Thanks to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts that took part.
