He took the Scouts through their paces and very soon had got them inline and acting as if they new what they were doing. Enjoy the photos.

The Salvation Army hall is currently undergoing some building work so the Beavers will be using the Band Room Beaver Lodge instead of the Main hall.

Last Night, the Beavers did some tracking whilst the Cubs build camp fires and cooked sausages and marshmallows (not together, obviously!)

Later, the Scouts and Explorers Scouts cooked three courses of Kebabs on fires – a meaty kebab, a vegatable kebab and finally a desert kebab consisting of strawberries, bannana and marshmallows.

We also said goodbye to a Scout who had come up through the Beavers and Cubs to the Scouts – he’s mowing to Essex and hopes to be able to continue his Scouting at the Salvation Army Scout Group in Basildon.

All the sections start back on Monday 12th January.

After setting up on the Saturday, everyone got together for a welcome evening and played games to get to know other people.

On Sunday, our Scouts and Explorers had a go on the 3G Swing and Archery. In the evening, a member of the Salvation Army from the West Midlands gave a talk to everyone.

On Monday our Scouts went to Alton Towers during the day and in the evening took part in a series of

activities run by a team from the Salvation Armys International Development department. The games were designed to challenge the way we think of 8 key development areas and everyone was encouraged to think of 3 ways they could make a difference to make the world a better place.

On Tuesday, we went to the Nottingham Climbing Centre to complete some of the requirements for the Scout Climbers Badge and the Explorers Climbing badge. The instructors were excellent and helped all the participants achieve more than they expected during the day.

In the evening, Maurice Porter, a Scouter and Salvation Army Officer performed a magic show.

On Wednesday, we took the High all aboard challenge in the morning and rode the pedal karts in the afternoon. In the evening, everyone got together for a Fun Olympics Evening.

On Thursday, the Scouts did grass sledging in the morning, swimming in the afternoon and cooked a delicious rainbow trout in newspaper of the fire in the evening. Everyone got together for a final campfire beore staying up very late to say goodbye to everyone.

Friday saw everyone packing up and saying their final goodbyes before the journey home.

It was an excellent week where the Scouts and Explorers were challenged with activities and how they live. Click on the photos below to browse through our slide shows.

We start at 6.30pm and will finish around 8pm – all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, their parents and family and all other friends of the group are welcome to come along.

(Note that this event replaces the normal section meetings)

After putting up our mess tent, we set off for the activities including the Hot Wheels area, Bouncy Castles, Robogeddon and Archery.

After lunch several of the Beavers and Cubs went on the High and Medium rope courses as well as the aerial runways, grass sledging and the fair ground rides.
