Group
This Sunday we held our first Church Parade of the year at Chatham Salvation Army.
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along with the Brownies and Guides paraded in their flags and presented them to Major Kathy and then enjoyed the meeting which was run by Tracy, who is in charge of the Young People at the Salvation Army.
It was great to see lots of family members come along for the meeting and all the mums were given bunches of Daffodils as it was mothers day.
At the same time as the Scout Group was parading, the crew of HMS chatham were also lining up for a parade outside the Hall. HMS Chatham was visiting Chatham Dockyard and the Crew were exercising their right to Parade through the town as they have the freedom of the city! Click on the picture below to see some pictures of the Chatham in the dockyard.
The Beavers and Cubs and Explorers had their first nights of 2007 with their new Leaders on Monday night. The Beavers worked on some pictures of what they would look like in a years time and the things they want to do in Beavers this year. The Cubs looked at their Cub Promise and Law and started work on keeping a good turn diary for a week.
The Explorer’s played some games and talked about some of the activities they are going to do this term, including releasing a CD with Camp Fire songs on – so watch this space for more news on that!
The Scouts had their first night back as well (although with the same old leaders) and started work on the Scout Communicators badge.
Click on the photo below to see more of what the Cubs and Beavers were doing.

Salvation Army World Jamboree, Almere, Netherlands 2006.
Over 800 people gathered from all over the world in one of the Dutch National Parks at Kotterbos near Almere in the Netherlands fro the Salvation Army World jamboree 2006. Scouts and Guides from all over the UK were represented in that number.
The theme of the camp was very simple and synonymous with Scouting and Guiding, “Be prepared” and ran throughout every aspect of the camp. Be prepared to make friends, be prepared to challenge yourself, be prepared to do new things, be prepared to meet God.
Following on from the great time we had last year, the group once again held a Barbeque to celebrate the end of the Scouting year.
All the Sections joined in with many parents and friends coming along as well. In addition to the great food, excellently prepared by the Explorer Scout Unit, the Group Scout Leader presented the annual review whilst the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts explored the beach and found out about some of the Medways history.
Due to a mix up with the interpretation of the tide tables, no games were played but a good time was had talking and playing by the river.
The Beavers and Cubs are now finished for the Summer break but the Scouts and Explorers will meet next Monday for their last meeting before their Summer camp in the Netherlands.
A copy of the Annual Review will be posted here very soon. For now, be sure to click on the picture above to see more pictures from the evening
This Monday, the group will be holding it’s second annual Beach Barbeque on the beach at Lower Upnor. We will also be holding the AGM so you’ll be able to eat and find out what we’ve been doing for the last year.
We’ll be starting at 6.45 and finishing around 8.30. If the weather is bad, we’ll have to move everything back to the hall so if in doubt, check with your section leader on the day.
For a map to Lower Upnor click here.
Or if you prefer, you can follow these instructions:
Directions to Lower Upnor Car Park
Coming from Chatham via Dock Road, go through the Medway Tunnel
At the first roundabout turn left.
At the second roundabout, go around and head back down the other side, back towards the tunnel. Take the first left and follow the road all the way top Lower Upnor.
The car park is at the very end of the town and is sign posted (note it is the public car park, not the ones belonging to the Pubs or the Yacht Clubs).
Chatham Salvation Army, our sponsor and the church we are part of have got a brand new website.
It contains news, features, the history of the corps and information about all the activities that happen in the church. It even includes a section on the Scout Group! Bonus points for the person who can find the earliest mention on the Scouts in the History Section.
