Scouts

This Saturday, the Chatham Salvation Army held their annual Christmas Concerts at Chatham Central Theatre.
This years theme was the gifts of Christmas with each group that meets during the week taking part.

The Scout Group did the Ten Lords a Leaping section from the Song.
This involved a vaulting horse, lots of jumping and some excellent stage management by the explorer Scouts.
As you can see there were lots of people involved.

Thanks to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts that took part.
The Scouts were set the challenge of coming up with the ideal breakfast to eat on camp. The rules were
- Something you’ve never had for breakfast on camp before
- Some fresh ingredients
- Must be hot/cooked
The Patrol leader had the great idea for some Dutch Blueberry pancakes with some fried eggs and bacon – so although not completly original, there was definetly a new twist on a camp classic.

Some of Scouts and Explorers went on a cycle hike on Sunday.
Like last year, they cycled to Iwade, although unlike last year they made very good time and finished quite early. It had been raining quite hard in the morning but was mainly dry on the ride itself (except for one scout who made sure to go through every puddle!).

Just to remind everyone that the subs for all sections increased to £2.50p per week with effect from Monday 4th September 2006.
There are monthly, termly and annual payment options. For more information please talk to your child’s section leader.
We had our first night back after the Summer Break and there was lots happening.
The Beavers and the Cubs where making pizzas (with help from some of the Explorer Scouts who are also Young Leaders).
At the end of the Pack meeting, 3 Cubs where awarded their Chief Scouts Silver awards, the highest award they can achieve as a Cub Scout.
Following this, one of the cubs moved up to the Scout Troop and was invested as a Scout.
The Scouts and Explorers started the new term with some games and some planning and review for the next term.
Next week, the Scouts and Explorers will be out and the Beaver Scout Leader will be back from holiday – thanks to Akela for getting the new term started with the Beavers.
So we’ve heard about the band, we’ve seen some photos, we’ve even had a preview of the official report, now we’re just waiting to hear from the Scouts, Guides and Explorers that were on the camp. To give you a clue, they’re the ones in this photo.

So if you’re under 25 and are in this photo, please get your writing pen out and write your story about the camp. Let your section leader have it and we’ll post it here.
The music at the Salvation Army World Jamboree 2006 was provided by Nick and Emma pears and they’re backing band (including Ben Cotteral from our own Chatham Salvation Army).

Everyone who was at the camp thought they were great. In addition to providing the live music for the sunday meetings and the concerts, they also helped out in the Prayer tent; on the pastoral team and in leading the Gospel Choir.

If you would like to know more about the band, or perhaps buy they’re CD, take a look at they’re website, www.therattling.com
Salvation Army World Jamboree, Almere, Netherlands 2006.
Over 800 people gathered from all over the world in one of the Dutch National Parks at Kotterbos near Almere in the Netherlands fro the Salvation Army World jamboree 2006. Scouts and Guides from all over the UK were represented in that number.
The theme of the camp was very simple and synonymous with Scouting and Guiding, “Be prepared” and ran throughout every aspect of the camp. Be prepared to make friends, be prepared to challenge yourself, be prepared to do new things, be prepared to meet God.
