Cub Pack Holiday – Skreens Park 2009

The Cub Pack had a great week at Skreens Park, near Chelmsford in Essex at the end of July.
The Cubs worked towards several awards together including the Naturalist badge where they took part in pond dipping, bug hunting and leaf identification and the athletes badge in which they had to run, jump, throw and skip there way to accumulating points. In smaller groups, they worked towards there chefs badge (which included making dinner for the whole camp), the emergency aid badge, the artists badge and the home help badge.
On site they took part in archery, climbing and karting as well as wide games, fire lighting, a camp fire and shelter building. Because of our theme we also had some film nights where they sat back and relaxed watching both the Madagascar films on a big screen, enjoying hot chocolate and cakes for supper.
On Wednesday they visited Colchester zoo and enjoyed seeing their fantastic collection of animals and their great parks.
During the week, Tracy, the young peoples leader from the Salvation Army and Chatham visited to see how we were getting on and it was really nice to share with her for a few hours.
For some of those on Camp it was there last Cub Camp as they are moving up to or had just moved up to Scouts. For many it was there first camp and can look forward to many more.
Many thanks to all the leaders who helped on the camp, to our Equipment van drivers and the parents who supported the activity.
